Downtown has a special place in my heart. When I was younger I used to get scared of coming here. To me, it was big and noisy and a mess.

Don't go to downtown, they said. You'll be robbed/lost, they said.

Now, I see it for what it is: the beating heart of Cebu itself. 

The sun shines golden in downtown, just like any other place in the island, and it's a pretty thing to watch. Like a layer of something delicate over the din and chaos.
